Nick Mijak

January-February 2017


Nick Mijak is a self-taught artist often found painting outside along the riverwalk. Using colors borrowed from nature, abstract forms and a loose technique, he has developed a unique style seen in his show "Distillation of Nature."



Submissions
Flytrap features five curated solo exhibits each year, with local artists rotating every two months. The last show of the year is a jurried art show displaying works by Cape Fear Community College art students.

We are seeking submissions for 2017 solo exhibits. 
To be considered for a show, please send an email of interest to events@flytrapbrewing.com with a short bio, artist statement and link to your website or portfolio. All submissions will be reviewed. However, due to volume, we may not be able to respond to each submission.

Flytrap Brewing is committed to supporting the community.  As part of the Brooklyn Arts District, we are honored to display the work of local artists in our tap-room. We also celebrate arts and culture with the Arts Council of Wilmington's 4th Friday Gallery Nights. Exhibitions rotate, so be sure to come and enjoy!

Topher Alexander

March - April 2016


Topher Alexander serves as the Assistant Gallery Director at UNCW CAB Art Gallery, and teaches printmaking at the Cameron Art Museum School. His artwork is driven by experimentation, and grounded in raw materials. More here.

David Mercer is a self taught artist from Surf City, NC best known for his fun and colorful portraits. Mercer's collection was influenced by the fictitious and dysfunctional Bluth family in "Arrested Development."




Richard Welsh

September-October 2016


Crooked Hand Instruments is a surprise marriage of carpentry and music. In 1993, Rheumatoid Arthritis stripped Richard of his ability to play guitar and later his profession as a carpenter. Never one to let the disease beat him, he picked up the dobro and a new passion for creating Crooked Hand Instruments.

Katie Martin received her B.A. in Studio Art from UNCW. She explores the natural beauty of her surroundings to gain inspiration, and strives to consistently push the limits of color, light and contrast in her work. 

Bob Bryden

Working with a variety of drawing and printmaking processes, Bob Bryden overlays simple elements and patterns to create complex visual structures and translucent color fields. His work contains hidden images, undulating surfaces, and conflicting perspectives as seen in "Graphically Speaking" show. More here.
