Submissions
Flytrap features five curated solo exhibits each year, with local artists rotating every two months. The last show of the year is a jurried art show displaying works by Cape Fear Community College art students.

We are seeking submissions for 2018 solo exhibits. 
To be considered for a show, please send an email of interest to events@flytrapbrewing.com with a short bio, artist statement and link to your website or portfolio. All submissions will be reviewed. However, due to volume, we may not be able to respond to each submission.

Richard Welsh

Crooked Hand Instruments is a surprise marriage of carpentry and music. In 1993, Rheumatoid Arthritis stripped Richard of his ability to play guitar and later his profession as a carpenter. Never one to let the disease beat him, he picked up the dobro and a new passion for creating Crooked Hand Instruments.



Nick Mijak

Nick Mijak is a self-taught artist often found painting outside along the riverwalk. Using colors borrowed from nature, abstract forms and a loose technique, he has developed a unique style seen.



Gaeten Lowrie

July-August 2017


"FLORA/FAUNA," is an exhibition capturing the boundless inherent beauty within nature. Using his signature pen & ink style, Gaeten collages together dreamlike landscapes, waterfalls, wildflowers, butterflies, sea turtles and the like. These alcohol inks result in prismatic stained-glass-like qualities, utilizing brightly colored jewel-tones. This series is the artist's pacifistic protest to the horrors of pollution, climate change, and other man-made atrocities.

Ally Favory is an artist living and working in Wilmington, NC. Flora and fauna, along with her pup, Wally, bring Ally endless inspiration and joy.

Katie Martin received her B.A. in Studio Art from UNCW. She explores the natural beauty of her surroundings to gain inspiration, and strives to consistently push the limits of color, light and contrast in her work.

American Graffiti is an exhibition showcasing the beautiful grit and texture of the streets and the expansive art that takes place there. It’s a display and commentary on how graffiti has influenced, infused and added to art as a linage.



Bob Bryden

Working with a variety of drawing and printmaking processes, Bob Bryden overlays simple elements and patterns to create complex visual structures and translucent color fields. More here.
